What is Shellac? Shellac is the brand name for a new nail product created by Creative Nail Design. It is like a gel colour but applies like nail polishes on your natural nail.
The product has the thin look when it is applied on the natural nails but stay on strong and durable to give your natural nails a strengthening protection. Shellac Polishes are cured in a UV Lamp that ensures flexibility and durability and long lasting shine and dry instantly as soon as it is cured and cleased after your manicure. No more 30 - 40' drying time in a traditional nail dryer saving you time and money as it lasts up to 14 days without smulge or chip.
Who is Shellac best suited for? Shellac is for people who want to maintain natural nails and for those who want to protect their natural nails beautifully. The formulation looks as good from day 1 to day 14, but does not appear to damage nail beds since there is no filing or drilling procedure on your natural nail bed.
Who is Shellac least suited for? People who want nail extension and the thick look of acrylic nails as Shellac can only be applied on your natural nails without extension.
How is Shellac different from the traditional polish manicure?
Normal nail polish dries by using the nail dryer which may take up to 30 - 40 minutes after your manicure for it to be fully dry, whereas with Shellac Manicure, your nails are dry instantly as soon as the colour application is over, so you do not waste time waiting and worrying about your nails being smuldged or chipped for the next 14 days. In addition, normal nail polish does not protect your natural nails and usually make your nail look yelowish after you have the colour take off. With Shellac, your natural nails are protected and your nail bed is not left yelowish even after your 10th treatment with Shellac Colours
But Shellac is cured by UV light, and within minutes. Your nails are completely dry by the time your manicure is over, and strong enough to withstand accidental knocks. It acts like a plasticized coating, suitable as a long lasting polish.

How is a Shellac service different from traditional nail enhancements (fake nails)? Drills or filling on your natural nails are never used or needed with Shellac, and removal does not leave nails dry, thin, possibly torn. Your nail can grow healthily under Shellac colour coat.
Can you apply Shellac at home? No, Shellac can only be applied by a licensed, trained manicurist. Improper tools or techniques will give a less than desirable result with Shellac
Can you take Shellac off at home?
You can. It requires the use of 100% acetone. Removal at home can be done; proper removal is only 10 minutes overall. However, removal at the salon very minimally increases the time and may be less of an inconvenience for you. As Tiffany's client, Shellac take off is free of charge when you have a new set of Shellac at the same time.
What is Gelish Nails?

- Soak off in ten minutes leaving a healthy nail
Clients will feel confident in knowing that they can have a long lasting manicure that protects the nails instead of depleting or damaging the nails

Gelish is a new product from Hand and Nail Harmony. It’s basically a mix of nail polish and gel. The difference between regular nail polish and Gelish is the following:
· The texture. It’s much thicker since, well, it’s gel!
· After every coat applied, you have to place your nails under UV light for the gel to set.
· Thanks to the UV light, your nails will be instantly dry, so there’s no need to avoid using your hands for 15 – 30 mins after a manicure.
· The gel is meant to last up to 21 days without chipping or cracking, as well as maintain a water-like shine.
Why is Gelish better than normal polish?
Gelish does not chip or wear like a normal polish, it will maintain the perfect polish look for 21 days without chipping, peeling or wearing! it lasts around 4-6 weeks on toes.
Gelish does NOT have a drying time, it cures under Ultra Violet light which means an end to smudging your newly polished nails as soon as you leave the treatment room. You may feel around in your handbag, put gloves straight on in the winter time, wash your hands... without fear of ruining your beautiful nails. Like Shellac, Gelish is a healthy gel product which does not require the use of drill or file on your natural nails keeping your nails grow strong and healthy.
This is great for people who want a pedicure, but do not want to wear flip flops or sandals or sit with toes seperators on waiting for polish to dry! Gelish also provides strength to your natural nails and promotes nail growth.
What is the difference between Shellac and Gelish ?
The difference is that both products have different colour range and are products of two different companies. Shellac is claimed to last up to 14 days whereas Gelish is claimed to last up to 21 days. Shellac has up to 30 colour choices and 6 new clours are being launched in early March 2012 whereas Gelish currently boasts having 84 colours. Both products are healthy for your natural nails and ideal for people who want to grow their nails naturally and maintain a professional, classic look of a meticulously manicured long lasting gel colour.
Take off procedure in both products promote the use of foil wrap with the take off solution rather than soaking clients' nails in an aceton bowl. Gelish take off procedure require a gentle buff on the top coat surface.
